Cognitive decline is one of the most concerning aspects of aging and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the US. As of 2014 the CDC stated that of those older than 65 years of age, there was an estimated 5.0 million people suffering with dementia. This number is projected to be nearly 14 million by 2060.There are laundry lists of ideas to prevent cognitive decline, however, few really address the root cause. My guest today Dr. Dayan Goodenowe a neuroscientist and inventor with Prodrome Sciences. I was introduced to Dr. Goodenowe by a mutual colleague and he really struck a chord with me when he told me about plasmalogens.
